School Board Elections

The 2026 Spring School Board Election is  April 7.

What does my local school board do?

  • Creates educational goals for the school district
  • Hires and evaluates the Superintendent
  • Approves school curriculum, calendars, and budgets
  • Creates school district policy
  • Works with parents and community members to build public support for quality education

School board members are elected in nonpartisan elections. That means members of the school board do not represent a particular party.

The local school board makes an impact on your community dealing with issues like:

  • school curriculum choices
  • educational rights of children with disabilities
  • educator quality
  • educational opportunities
